Reading & Writing · 5 questions

Mae and Sage loved going outside after dark to look at the stars. One clear summer night, they set up two chairs in Sage's backyard and wrapped themselves in warm blankets.

Sage pointed to a group of stars that looked like a big spoon. "That one is called the Big Dipper," Sage said. Mae drew it in her little notebook so she would not forget.

Mae asked, "How far away do you think the stars are?" Sage said some were so far that their light took thousands of years to reach Earth. Both girls' eyes went wide.

They stayed outside until it got cold. The sky was full of questions waiting to be asked. There was so much to learn, and the night went on forever.
